The loneliness of the crocodiles is a German crime film satire about an outsider and the misfortune of being different by Jobst Oetzmann from the year 2000. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Dirk Kurbjuweit .

action

The strictly brought up butcher's son Günther is increasingly becoming an outsider and annoys the whole village with his crazy ideas. He longs to escape the confines of his hometown and is getting stranger and stranger. Ultimately, the ingenious weirdo ends up in psychiatry and later back home under the control of his parents, where he dies. It is said that Günther committed suicide. The budding journalist Elias investigates the strange death; he “is interested in the story of a lost life and finds himself through it”.

Reviews

"A multi-faceted film between black and humorous farce and deeply sad tragedy, which explores human sensitivities between utopian optimism and resigned adaptation in a playful and sophisticated way."

“With flashbacks, Jobst Oetzmann's laconically narrated tragic comedy puts this life story together piece by piece like a criminal puzzle. And in the process, the viewer is more and more immersed in a bizarre world in which hope is subject to emotional violence. "

“This curious search for traces of the novel by Dirk Kurbjuweit offers quite interesting approaches, shows remarkable performance, but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of film. Here the German province is presented as the birthplace of madness, where the supposedly crazy turn out to be the only normal ones. "
