Edgar Manfred Böhlke , known as Edgar M. Böhlke (* 1940 in Lauban ) is a German actor and university professor for the performing arts.

Life

Born in Lauban, Böhlke completed his Abitur in Gunzenhausen in 1960 at the Simon-Marius-Gymnasium . He then began studying Protestant theology at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau , before moving to the University of Tübingen in 1962 , where he began to study German . He continued his studies with the additional subject of theater studies and an acting training from 1964 in Munich and graduated in 1967. In the same year he was a co-founder of the action theater in Munich.

Böhlke had his first permanent engagement from 1967 to 1972 at the Wuppertaler Bühnen . He then belonged to the ensemble of the Schauspiel Frankfurt for six years . After two years at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , he returned to Frankfurt in 1980, where he played until 1988. From 1987 he was Professor of Drama at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts for 18 years .

He also played in smaller film and television roles, for example as a regular in a bar in the film Cindy Doesn't Love Me and had guest contracts at the Frankfurt Opera , the Opéra National de Lyon , the Stuttgart State Theater and the Munich Residence Theater, among others .

Edgar M. Böhlke has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Nationaltheater Mannheim since 2006 , where he was seen in the role of Faust, among other things .
