The Russian Beloved is a love story by Ulrich Stark from 2008. The literary film adaptation is based on the novel of the same name by the Polish writer Maria Nurowska .

Julia spent a semester at the Sorbonne in Paris as a visiting professor . Her first impressions of the unfamiliar city are rather negative, as her room neighbors, a young couple, disturb her concentration on her work and class preparations with their constant bickering and loud love games.
Her impression changes after getting to know them both personally. Alexander, a Russian historian, is visiting Paris with his partner Nadja. When Nadja returns to Russia and Alexander stays in Paris, he begins to woo Julia. His advances soon met with success. Julia tries to hide and control her feelings at first, but she succumbs to his charm.
