Maria Nurowska (born March 3, 1944 in Okółek , then the Sudauen district in East Prussia , before and after Suwałki in Poland ) is a Polish writer. She is one of the most widely read authors in Poland.

Maria Nurowska studied Polish and Slavic Studies at the University of Warsaw . She published her first work in 1974 in the journal Literatura . In Letters of Love , she recorded the life of the Holocaust survivor Krystyna Żywulska .
