The twelve-year-old Kurdin Leyla lies on her bed in the evening and remembers saying goodbye to her brother Mehmet at Karlsruhe Central Station. She just can't reach him by phone.
The next morning, a completely dehydrated body is found in a gravel pit with an address in its pocket. She leads the commissioners to the municipal emergency accommodation, which is managed by Peter Marler. Lena Odenthal meets Leyla there, who fears that the dead person is her brother.
Ms. Hofer sits desperately again with a doctor and hopes for a donor kidney for her daughter. Again she is put off after organ dealer Boris called the doctor. This orders her to find a recipient for Leyla's organs.
Peter Marler looks after his people in the neighborhood at all levels. He helps with small sums of money, gives Leyla a German book and comforts her and procures medicine. He advises everyone not to contact the police under any circumstances. It is completely unnecessary for Boris to point this out to him.
The commissioners have since learned that Leyla's brother's cell phone is in Ukraine. Leyla simply cannot - or does not want to - reveal anything. Then they can find out that Marler is getting fever-lowering drugs for a sick person at the accommodation.
The situation for Leyla comes to a head when Boris indicates to his helper Juri that she must be brought to the Ukraine and the doctor informs Ms. Hofer that the transplant will take place in Ukraine. After Odenthal and Kopper were tracked down illegal organ trafficking by the landlords of the "Marmaris", they bring Leyla to safety. She runs away, however.
The driver of the tractor truck with the failed air conditioning system lies murdered in a boarding house. Meanwhile, Leyla returns to her old room, where Boris is already waiting for her. She is about to turn back when the postman comes towards her. There is actually a letter addressed to you in the mailbox. It is written by a Ukrainian ministry and in Cyrillic letters. Since she has the Russian curse of Dr. Maria Busch has noticed, she runs straight to her. At the same time, Odenthal and Boris arrive there. Boris can bring Leyla into his power. But she can tear herself away on the escape route. The confusion tries to get Dr. To use Busch, but is shot by Boris. Odenthal initially overwhelms Boris, but he can still disappear.
