Last Doubt is a television film from the crime series Tatort . action

A young woman with expensive shoes and jewelry is found in the floodplains of the Rhine . The security key in her handbag leads the investigators into Horst Cervinski's business. The news of his wife's death leaves him speechless. His wife had allegedly spent the previous night with a friend, Claudia Schmitter. On the bedside table, the commissioners find a large number of psychological books that give clues to Karina Cervinski's problems. Claudia Schmitter, with an esoteric and astrological touch, speaks of reincarnations and suggests a lover.

The investigations lead to the psychotherapist Richard Gelpke, who can be found at the court and invokes his confidentiality. The forensic doctor can only give a very imprecise time of death, as the dead person was in the water for an indefinite period of time. However, he was able to detect active sperm and an early pregnancy. According to Horst Cervinski, his wife did not want children. During the night he intercepts "shrink" Gelpke and accuses him of having an affair with his wife. The next day he admits to the two inspectors that he went to Frau Schmitter's chocolate shop that evening to confront his wife. However, he did not find her.

Through clever observation, Becker can determine the time of death more precisely, which now relieves Cervinski and thus makes the unknown lover more and more important. Gelpke finally cooperates with Odenthal. He gives the reason for Karina Cervinski's anxiety disorders, which were also the basis of the marriage, because she was looking for security. But she was also looking for love. Cervinski's most important man in the company and former doctoral student , Michael Stamm, who spent a lot of free time with the dead and acted macho, fits perfectly into the image of a lover. The DNA analysis of the sperm does not match any of the men in question.

In one of Karina Cervinski's many books, Kopper finds an invoice for several books with an exorbitant discount. Bookseller Heiko Schwarz finds it difficult to explain and tries to flee. He falls so hard that he falls into a coma. As an explanation for his escape, his wife gives that he feared that his wife and two beloved daughters would separate from him through his repeated cheating, and that he would panic as a result. In his dormitory there are not only various traces of the dead, but also the murder weapon - a heavy book. Black admits the ratio. On the evening of the crime, however, he found the dead woman with no signs of life and took her away.

After a tussle with Michael Stamm, Horst Cervinski says that his wife caused an accident seven years ago with fatal consequences for the passenger of the oncoming vehicle. For Odenthal, this points to an act of revenge by the psychologist Gelpke, since his wife's disability destroyed their life together. However, Gelpke cannot be dealt with, especially since it turns out in the end that his pathologically jealous wife struck and he just wanted to cover up her act.
