Lavernat is located about 30 kilometers south-southeast of Le Mans . Lavernat is surrounded by the neighboring communities Mayet in the north and north-west, Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf in the north-east, Luceau in the east, Montbon in the south and south-east, Vaas in the south and south-west and Verneil-le-Chétif in the west.
