Mayet is a French municipality with 3138 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of La Flèche and the canton of Le Lude . The inhabitants are called Mayetais .
geography
Mayet is about 30 kilometers south of Le Mans on the Aune River . Mayet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Écommoy in the north, Marigné-Laillé in the northeast, Beaumont-Pied-de-Bœuf in the east, Lavernat in the southeast, Verneil-le-Chétif in the south, Aubigné-Racan and Sarcé in the southwest and Pontvallain in the west.
The A28 autoroute runs through the municipality.
