Chahaignes is a commune with 693 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Sarthe department in the region of Pays de la Loire . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of La Flèche and the canton of Château-du-Loir (until 2015: canton of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir ). The inhabitants are called Chahaignots .

geography

Chahaignes is located about 38 kilometers south-southeast of Le Mans on the Loir and belongs to the Coteaux du Loir wine-growing region . Chahaignes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Pierre-du-Lorouër in the north, Courdemanche in the north-east, Lhomme in the east, Marçon in the south, Flée in the west and south-west and Thoiré-sur-Dinan in the west and north-west.
