Vaas is a French commune with 1,510 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Sarthe department in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement La Flèche and the municipality association Sud Sarthe . The residents call themselves Védaquais .

geography

Vaas is located on the Loir River in the middle of the city triangle Le Mans - Angers - Tours . The neighboring municipalities are Verneil-le-Chétif in the north, Lavernat and Montval-sur-Loir in the east, La Bruère-sur-Loir in the southeast, Saint-Germain-d'Arcé in the south and Aubugné-Racan in the west.

The 30.14 km² large municipal area in the west of the Touraine consists of a mixture of arable and pasture land. To the north of the commune is the Bois des Bouleaux forest ; the vineyards in the east belong to the Coteaux du Loir wine-growing region . Vaas includes the districts of La Huetterie, Les Foucheries, Valette, La Bodinière, Moriers, Les Dureaux, La Chalopinière, Les Halles and Le Haut Monsureau .

Vaas train station

The Mayet - Château-la-Vallière (D30) and Le Lude - Château-du-Loir (D305) highways cross in Vaas. On the eastern edge of the municipality of Vaas, the A28 autoroute crosses the Loir. The municipality of Vaas has a train station on the Tours to Le Mans railway line.

In Vaas the highways D 305 from Le Lude to Montval-sur-Loir and D 30 from Écommoy to Château-la-Vallière cross . The A 28 autoroute runs along the eastern edge of the municipality of Vaas . The nearest train station is eight kilometers east in Montval-sur-Loir.
