Jean-Paul Proust (born March 3, 1940 in Vaas , Département Sarthe , France , † April 8, 2010 ) was head of government and foreign minister of the Principality of Monaco .

He was head of government since June 1, 2005, his inauguration had because of the death of Prince Rainier III. delayed by a month. It was determined three months earlier by Prince Albert II and the French government . Like all heads of government in Monaco so far, he does not come from Monaco and did not grow up there. (Until recently, the Monegasque head of government had to be French.)

Before that he was in the French civil service. From November 1989 to July 1991 he was Prefect of Guadeloupe . From 2001 to 2004 he held the post of police chief in Paris .
