Fontenay-sur-Vègre is a French municipality with 324 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement La Flèche and the canton Loué (until 2015: canton Brûlon ). The inhabitants are called Fontenaysia .

Fontenay-sur-Vègre is located about 32 kilometers west-southwest of Le Mans on the Vègre . Fontenay-sur-Vègre is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Chevillé in the north, Chantenay-Villedieu in the east and northeast, Tassé in the southeast, Asnières-sur-Vègre in the south and Poillé-sur-Vègre in the west and northwest.
