Wendel Langenegger

Wendel Langenegger (born October 20, 1912 in Kriessern ; † February 11, 2005 in Altstätten ; resident in Oberriet ) was a Swiss teacher , local researcher and archivist .

biography

Wendel Langenegger grew up in Kriessern on the Rhine . In 1929 he entered the Rorschach teacher training college . His first years (1933–40) as a primary school teacher he worked at the two half-day schools in Katholische Gätziberg and Kornberg above Altstätten. From 1941 to 1950 he worked as a teacher at the school in Kriessern. From 1950 he lived in the city of Altstätten and taught at the local school until 1978. After his retirement he worked as an archivist until 1989.

In addition to his work as a teacher, he was active in various associations and in voluntary functions. For eight years (1954–61) he was President of the Stadtmusik Altstätten, from 1969 to 1976 he was organist and choirmaster in Kriessern and at times president and for a few years vice-president of the Altstätten men's choir. At the latter, he was honored in January 2004 as a jubilee for 70 years of active membership. He died in February 2005 at the age of 92.
