The St. Gallen University of Education (PHSG) is the training center for teachers in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen .
More than 1000 students are trained by around 260 lecturers at the PHSG.
history
The «University of Education of the Canton of St. Gallen» (PHSG) was created by merging the Rorschach University of Education (PHR) and the St. Gallen University of Education (PHS) on September 1, 2007.
On September 1, 2012, the name of the university was changed to “St. Gallen University of Education” (PHSG).
courses
The “Kindergarten and Primary School” course (in Rorschach ) is divided into diploma courses A and B. The diploma course A leads to a university of applied sciences degree (Bachelor) and a diploma recognized throughout Switzerland for teaching all subjects from kindergarten to the 3rd grade of the primary school, the diploma course B enables teaching from the 1st to the 6th grade of the primary school. In both cases, the course lasts six semesters.
The “Secondary Level 1” course (in St. Gallen and Gossau SG ) is designed as a Bachelor / Master course. It can be completed in the focus phil I , which leads to the degree of Master of Arts in Secondary Education (MA) , or in the focus phil II , which leads to the degree of Master of Science in Secondary Education (MSc) . In both cases, the course lasts nine semesters.
