The University of Education Zurich (PH Zurich or PHZH, Eng. Zurich University of Teacher Education ) is the training center for teachers and teachers in the Swiss canton of Zurich .
organization
The PH Zurich was founded in autumn 2002 by amalgamating eleven previous institutions for teacher training. It is one of the four sub-schools of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences . The PH Zurich is divided into the following areas:
- Training for prospective teachers at all levels ( pre-school , primary , secondary I and upper secondary level (vocational training) )
- Continuing education and services for teachers, school principals, school authorities, university lecturers and parents
- Research and Development
More than 3,600 students and around 21,500 further training participants per year are training and continuing education at the PH Zurich (2019). The University of Education Zurich employs 627 lecturers, academic staff and assistants, as well as around 260 staff in administrative and technical functions (2019), full-time or part-time.
Cooperations
As a member of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences , the PH Zurich works closely with the other universities of the ZFH, the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich . It is also a member of the International Lake Constance University (IBH).
The PH Zurich also supports cooperation with universities in the education sector at home and abroad and promotes the exchange of students, researchers and employees. It maintains cooperative relationships with 80 partner universities worldwide.
Locations and infrastructure
The PH Zurich campus is located right next to Zurich's main train station - in the middle of the city of Zurich on Europaallee . The infrastructure includes classrooms, seminar and group rooms with modern equipment, a triple gymnasium, a lecture hall for 440 people, three smaller lecture halls for 150 people, work rooms for lecturers and students, modern information technology, the library of the Zurich University of Education and catering facilities. A total of five microwaves are available to the students.
