The Märchenpark Salzwedel is an amusement park south of the city of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

The park, which is open all year round, covers an area of ​​45,000 m² and is aimed primarily at families with small children. In the park there are 35 fairy tale huts depicting well-known German fairy tales . Seven huts tell the story of Max and Moritz , another eight huts represent regional legends from Salzwedel and the Altmark .

In the middle of the park there is a large playground with a 5 m slide, climbing wall, trampoline, double cable car, cable carousel, water system and other play equipment.

Various pavilions and seating allow picnics. Barbecuing is also allowed by appointment. The parks are designed with beds of different shapes (Asian garden, rose arch walkway, apple trellis). Many figures that are based on well-known fairy tales ( The Seven Dwarfs ) or television characters ( Pittiplatsch , Bernd das Brot , Schnatterinchen , the Sandman ) are spread across the area. A half-timbered street , a true-to-scale replica of the solar system, an area designed with painted stones ( Stone Kingdom ) and a complex modeled on a historical castle are further special features. Go-karts can be borrowed. There is also catering.

Opposite the park entrance is the associated area “Maze of Life”, formerly “Fragrance and Touch Garden”. It leads through the "stations of life" from "birth" to "paradise".

Which belongs to the fairytale park play barn can be visited independently of the park. It includes a climbing course, slides and ball pit as well as gastronomic tasting.

Initially, the fragrance and touch garden was created in 1998. As part of a job creation measure , the fairy tale park was created in spring 2003. In addition to the employment agency, the city of Salzwedel and Jeetze landscape redevelopment were also involved in the project .

The opening took place in 2003. In addition to paths and flower beds, the fairy tale huts, the Max and Moritz and the legend huts were built. Figures like Pittiplatsch and Sandmann had also already been set up.

In 2004, the mountain in the center of the facility was heaped up for the slides. In addition to several pavilions, the first three houses on Fachwerkstrasse, the Stone Kingdom and other figures were built. The replica of the solar system was also installed. The opening of the slides, the installation of the Japanese and rose beds, grand lady and chess as well as the introduction of the go-karts then took place in 2005.

Construction of the castle began in 2006 and has now been completed. The trampoline, the twister game and the water system were created. In addition to rose trellis (30 m) and apple trellis (15 m), work on the half-timbered road was also completed. An ice cream stand was built here.
