Fairytale forest
A fairy tale forest is a theme park- style leisure facility that depicts scenes from fairy tales .
description
Groups of often life-size, often mechanically moved wax or polyester figures are shown in a modeled environment in front of a painted background in fairy tale houses in the manner of dioramas . As a rule, the corresponding fairy tale is played through audio media. The fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm are particularly popular , as are the picture stories by Max and Moritz based on Wilhelm Busch .
In connection with pets, such facilities are also run as a fairytale zoo . In dwarf forests go dwarves or elves for their life and different professions. There are systems of this type in Bad Schwartau or St. Wendel .
Seasonally there are numerous fairytale forests in the Advent season as an artistic or cultural supporting program at Christmas markets . These groups of figures are usually housed in small crates and surrounded by fir trees, giving the impression of a forest.
history
The fairy tale forest in Wünschendorf in Thuringia , which is only operated with water power and has existed since 1927, is probably the oldest still existing fairy tale forest in Germany and with 18 scenes also one of the largest. The fairy tale forest Altenberg in Altenberg in the Bergisches Land (since 1931, over 20 scenes) has, among other things, a manually played water organ in the Brothers Grimm Hall of Honor . The Phantasialand , one of the largest German amusement park, was established in 1967 with a fairy tale forest. The fairy tale houses were demolished in 2007/08. Above all, smaller facilities, such as the fairytale forest in the Bell amusement park in the remote Hunsrück , were able to survive. In 2011, Europa-Park in Rust redesigned the fairytale forest with the Sleeping Beauty Castle, Grimm Library, witch house, fairy tale gallery and Wichtelhausen. The Holiday Park in Hassloch also goes back to a fairytale forest.
The Märchengrund in Bad Sachsa has existed since 1910 and is the first fairytale forest in Germany. It was founded by the painter Gustav Schaub.
Literary fiction
The fairytale forest is also called the fictional world that is used as the location for the stories of the children's program Our Sandman . Well-known characters who inhabit the fairy tale forest are fox and magpie as well as Pittiplatsch and Schnatterinchen .
