theme park

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A theme park is a landscape area that is based on a certain thematic perspective - for example on a building style, an art movement or a geographical area. Larger theme parks are sometimes divided into themed areas, each of which deals with different topics.

The forerunners of modern theme parks can be found in themed gardens such as stately gardens and orangeries of the Baroque, in which creative means were used for simulation and sensation , and then the English gardens of classicism and romanticism, which were furnished with artificial ruins or set pieces of the shepherd's idyll . Their essential characteristics (quotation, visualization, simulation, clarity, contrast and proximity) became with the development of the landscape parkformulated, which represents a particularly refined art for generating sensations. Today they are didactic framework concepts that are close to nature and landscape conservation areas and open-air museums , and mostly represent cultural assets at their original location (in situ), or marketing concepts for amusement parks .

Quote, simulation and contrast

The quote is to act instead of the original sensual to the viewer and evoke feelings in them. In order to be able to quote something, it must be visible or tangible, which is why the artificial visualization of invisible emotions is important. Using certain techniques, the simulation should create moods based on an agreement with the viewer. The uniqueness of the characters is therefore important in order to keep the room for interpretation among the viewers low. In order to maintain the attention of the visitors and to entertain them, contrast is played with and the elements are to alternate. The contrast can be increased by integrating the exotic , foreign and distant in the vicinity, which makes it tangible. These six features, which characterize the arrangement of modern theme parks, were used in amusement parks , some world exhibitions and zoological facilities of the 19th century, as they are also typical for leisure and shopping centers (malls) of the present.

A zoo can also be split up into theme parks according to the occurrence of individual animal species. Well-known examples are the SeaWorld marine parks in the USA and Loro Park in Tenerife.
