Wolfgang Unterzaucher (born September 7, 1934 in Graz ) is an Austrian actor .

Live and act

Unterzaucher grew up in Leverkusen . After graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at the Bayer AG chemical company from 1953 to 1956 . From 1956 to 1958 he studied theater, German and art history in Munich and Vienna .

From 1958 to 1960 he attended the Max Reinhardt School for Drama in Berlin . After graduating, Unterzaucher received his first engagement at the Heilbronn Theater from 1960 to 1962 , where he made his stage debut in the title role in Shakespeare's Hamlet . Other roles were Mephisto in Urfaust and Leonce in Leonce and Lena , as a guest he was seen in 1962 in Stuttgart at the Theater der Altstadt in Molière / Schwarzes Die Lästigen .

In Berlin he acted between 1965 and 1967 in the political cabaret The Ironing Board by Hannelore Kaub . In 1968 he took on the title role in Kaspar von Peter Handke at the Forum Theater on Kurfürstendamm.

In 1973 he played Edgar Wibeau in the West German premiere of Ulrich Plenzdorf's Die neue Leiden des young W. and Ben Silverman in Neil Simon's Sunny boys at the Schlossparktheater . In the 1970s he was a popular actor on television in the multi-part series by Herbert Asmodi , directed by Wilhelm Semmelroth, The Woman in White , The Red Scarf, The Rope Around the Neck and Uncle Silas.

In 1982 he played Felix Fürst in Martin Walser's room battle at the theater of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . In 1986 and 1988 he worked at the Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel and in 1989 at the Bad Hersfeld Festival .

From 1992 he was part of the ensemble of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . Roles there were in 1992 Schlomo Herzl in George Tabori's Mein Kampf , Edward Broderick in Julien Green's South , Fool in Shakespeare's Was You Want and in 1993 the title role in Nestroy's Chief Evening Wind .
