Susanne Bentzien (* 1957 , according to her own statements 1958) is a German actress , acting teacher and reciter .

Life

Education and theater

Bentzien completed her acting training at the Max-Reinhardt-Schule (today: University of the Arts ) in Berlin from 1976 to 1981 . She then had theater engagements at the Ruhr Festival Recklinghausen (1982) and at the Essen Theater (1983; as Stella in Endstation Sehnsucht ).

From 1984 to 1990 she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . There she played, inter alia, Viktoria in Das Kaffeehaus by Carlo Goldoni (1984; directed by Jiří Menzel ), Vicky Brooke in Nackter Wahnsinn by Michael Frayn (1985; directed by Otto Sander / Peter Fitz ), Julia in Maß für Maß (1985; directed by: Arie Zinger ), Fanchette in Figaro can be divorced (1986; director: Fred Berndt ) and Cecily in Bunbury (1988; director: Gerhard Klingenberg ), as well as Celia in Volpone (1985; Theater am Neumarkt Zurich, director: Roberto Guicciardini).

Further engagements followed at the Comedy Düsseldorf (1991), at the Staatstheater Stuttgart (1992; as Regan in König Lear , director: Jürgen Bosse ) and at the Ettlingen Castle Festival (1993; as "The Actress" in Arthur Schnitzler's play Der Reigen ).

Movie and TV

From the early 1990s, Bentzien worked mainly for television, occasionally also for film.

In the crime scene and police call 110 crime thriller Unter Brüdern (1990) she played the Berlin art dealer Dr. Viola Bender, who supports Commissioners Grawe and Fuchs in solving the case. In the movie Der Grüne Heinrich (Switzerland / Germany / France 1992/1993), a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Gottfried Keller , she played the role of the beautiful Rosalie under the direction of Thomas Koerfer .

In the television series Stadtklinik , she had a continuous serial role as the nurse Andrea Pohl from 1993 to 1994. She later took on other series roles in For all cases Stefanie (1996), gynecologist Dr. Markus Merthin (1997; as the new doctor Dr. Rita Sentrop) and veterinarian Dr. Engel (1998–2001; as Bettina von Karlshagen).

In the crime comedy Der Doppelganger (1997), she played Claus Hoffmann, his wife , at the side of Jürgen Heinrich as insurance agent. In the television film Die heilige Hure (1998) she took on the role of Domina Carola.

She had episode roles in the television series Dr. Stefan Frank - The doctor whom women trust (1996; as Marion Hansen, a pregnant patient who is expecting twins in her early 40s), Ein Mord für Quandt (1997), SOKO 5113 (1999), Der Landarzt (2001), In all friendship (2002; as actress Constanze Haas), Schlosshotel Orth (2002; as Mrs. Müller-Dalbert, wife of the celebrity chef Müller-Dalbert), alarm for Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei (2002; as public prosecutor Dr. Regina Wolf), Der Bulle von Tölz (2004) and SOKO Kitzbühel (2007; as a consultation assistant Christa Jentsch).

In the television film Ein Fall von Liebe (2009) she played Gudrun Kramer, the loyal office manager and secretary of the lawyer Dr. Florian Faber ( Francis Fulton-Smith ). Kerstin Reimann played her role in the two other films Saubermänner (2011) and Ein Fall von Liebe - Anna's Baby (2014) .

In January 2018, Bentzien appeared in a leading role in the ZDF crime series SOKO Wismar ; she played a wife who becomes a murderer after discovering that her husband has developed a homosexual love for his training partner.

Readings and recitations

Since the 1990s, Bentzin has appeared with readings and as a reciter. She gave solo programs with texts by Robert Musil (1999; The Man Without Qualities ), Bertolt Brecht and Ruth Berlau (1999; Letters and Love Poems), Leo Tolstoi ( The Kreutz Sonata ), Sofia Tolstoia ( A Question of Guilt ), Olga Knipper / Anton Chekhov (love letters), Tania Blixen ( Babettes Fest ), Ernst Jandl (1995), Umberto Eco and with Greek literature .

Teaching activities

Bentzien has been an acting teacher, acting coach and lecturer since 1996. Since 2000 she has been teaching acting at the Munich Theater . She is also a lecturer at the Bavarian Theater Academy in Munich for the field of "Theater and School".

From 2004 to 2012 Bentzien took on various teaching activities abroad; she lived in Switzerland during this time . She was a lecturer for drama and language at the European Film Acting School in Zurich, since 2011 lecturer for theater at the Music School Conservatory Zurich (MKZ) and lecturer for drama and language at the Stage Academy of Switzerland. During this time she staged various, own theater projects.

In 2013 Bentzien returned to Germany, where she continued to teach, including as a lecturer for theater and as a lecturer for language and voice training. She now works mainly as a coach for acting, language and voice training for actors and singers.

Private

In 1990 she completed a degree in art and expression therapy at Lesley College in Zurich. Bentzien lives in Munich.
