Life

Bosse, who initially studied agricultural science, began his theater career as an assistant to Fritz Kortner in Berlin. He made his directorial debut in 1970 under the direction of Arno Wüstenhöfer at the Schauspielhaus Wuppertal with Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Katzelmacher . In 1975 acting director Claus Leininger brought him to the National Theater Mannheim . From 1977 to 1988 he was his successor in the acting division there. His activities in Mannheim attracted national attention, and two of his Mannheim productions were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen .

1988–1993 Bosse was acting director at the Staatstheater Stuttgart , where he took about half of the Mannheim ensemble with him. His work in Stuttgart was viewed very critically by the local press. In 1991 he was elected director of the Essen theater (for the 1993/1994 season) . As early as the 1992/1993 season he held this post - in addition to the management in Stuttgart - due to Hansgünther Heyme's premature retirement . In Essen he presented international guest performances in the first season for lack of his own ensemble. From 1993 he worked as artistic director in Essen with his own permanent ensemble. Since the end of his directorship in 2005, he has continued to work as a freelance director.

Bosse staged Verdi's Simon Boccanegra as the first opera in Bonn in 2002 .

Bosse is a member of the German Academy of Performing Arts .
