Laurent Gaudé (born July 6, 1972 in Paris ) is a French writer.

Gaudé studied modern literature and theater at the University of Paris III and published his first play (Onysos le furieux) in 1997 , which premiered in Strasbourg in 2000 . This was followed by Pluie de cendres (performed in the studio of the Comédie-Française ), Combat de Possédés (also translated into German as fighting dogs and premiered in the Schauspiel Essen in 2000), Médée Kali and Les Sacrifiées .

His first novel Cris was published in 2001. His novel Le mort du roi Tsongor from 2002 received the Prix ​​Goncourt des lycéens and Le soleil des Scorta from 2004 the Prix ​​Goncourt and the Prix du Jury Jean Giono. The novel is about the descendants of a southern Italian petty criminal who was born “in shame” from 1875 to the present day. The novel was a bestseller. Gaudé's eighth novel Danser les ombres was published in 2015.

Gaudi's novel Eldorado is about an Italian captain who intercepts migrants from North Africa in the Mediterranean. In 2010 he received the Euregio Literature Prize .
