Jules Forni

Jules Forni (born September 17, 1838 in Lyon , † April 11, 1901 in Paris ) was a French politician and poet .

Life

Forni came from a family that has long been in the silk pressworkManufacture worked as well in the silk trade. At the family's request, Forni was to continue this tradition, but he preferred to study law at the Sorbonne in Paris. After successfully completing his degree, he was able to set up a lawyer in his hometown. Forni was later called to the “Cour d'appel” (Higher Regional Court) in Paris.

Forni also acted as editor of the magazine “Gazette des tribunaux” for several years.

The mother Fornis came from the Savoy and he was a vehement representative and advocate of this region throughout his life. For a few years he was entrusted with the management of the “Comité Savoisin”. In 1897 he was elected a member of the Albertville , Savoie department , and held this office until his death.

Interested in modern literature, Forni made the acquaintance of Ernest d'Hervilly and Saint-Cyr de Rayssac in Paris, and these paved the way for him to other Parnassians . The publisher Alphonse Lemerre then included five of his poems (“Souhait”, “Avril”, “Le pauvre savant”, “Machope” and “Le fossyeur”) in the later famous anthology Le Parnasse contemporain . In addition, there are hardly any poems by Jules Forni that have been published in some literary magazines. Today one counts him only to the environment of this literary association.
