Joshua "Josh" Daniel Hartnett (born July 21, 1978 in Saint Paul , Minnesota ) is an American actor and film producer .

Life

Hartnett grew up with his three younger siblings Jake, Joe and Jessica with his father Daniel and his stepmother Molly. He had to give up his favorite sport, American football , at the age of 16 after a serious knee injury, which took him to the theater , which he was involved in until he graduated from high school in 1996. After a short stay at the SUNY theater school in New York , he moved to Hollywood to try his luck there.

The then 18-year-old Hartnett made his television debut in the US remake of the British series For All Cases Fitz . However, the American version of the series was discontinued after a short time. In 1998 he stood for the first time for a movie in front of the camera. In Halloween: H20 he played the son of Jamie Lee Curtis . Other 'teen flicks' like The Faculty followed. In 1999 he also played the role of Trip Fontaine in Sofia Coppola's novel The Virgin Suicides .
