Halloween H20 (Alternative title: Halloween H20 - 20 Years Later) is an American horror film from 1998 by director Steve Miner .

action

20 years ago, Laurie Strode was persecuted and almost killed by her psychopathic brother Michael. Under her new name Keri Tate, she lives with her 17-year-old son John as the principal of the elite “Hillcrest” school in California . Because of the disturbing events in her past, she suffers from anxiety, nightmares, and alcohol and drug addiction.

Two days before Halloween, Michael breaks into the house of his late psychiatrist Samuel Loomis and kills the nurse who lives there and two neighbors who come to her aid. He finds documents in a filing cabinet that reveal his sister's whereabouts. He steals a car and drives from Illinois to California.

Almost all the students and teachers at the boarding school take part in an excursion to Yosemite National Park , only a few people have stayed behind. John, his girlfriend Molly as well as Charles and Sarah use the almost deserted boarding school to host a private Halloween party. In the meantime, Michael gains access to the premises. He finds the teenagers and kills Charles and Sarah. The teacher Will Brennan also falls victim to him. When Laurie notices that her brother has found her and is already in boarding school, she believes that she has to face him. She helps her son John and his friend Molly to escape and stays behind to defeat her brother, which she manages after a long fight through several rooms. She can catch Michael by surprise and rams a kitchen knife into his chest several times. As a result, Michael falls over a parapet and remains motionless.

After the rescue workers arrive, Laurie steals the hearse to make sure that the dead Michael is in it. However, this is alive and can free himself from the body bag. He attacks Laurie, who is sitting at the wheel, but after an emergency stop he flies through the windshield onto the road. Shortly afterwards he gets up again and is hit by Laurie. With Michael on the hood, Laurie races down a slope. Michael is thrown from the car and Laurie is thrown out of the car. The vehicle crashes into a tree and Michael is trapped between the car and the tree. Laurie looks him in the eye through the mask and then cuts off his head with an ax.

Reviews

“The seventh sequel to the 'Halloween' horror lacks fresh ideas that have now made better films in the genre stand out. The thin infusion is also poor in the tension category. "

“Shrill screams and solid entertainment for horror fans. And once again Jamie Lee Curtis survived the massacre. "

- Kultur Spiegel Extra 11/1998

“Steve Miner ('Day of the Dead') ties in directly to the horror classic from 1978, which made Jamie Lee Curtis the Scream Queen. Miner modernizes the material by borrowing from the Teenschlitzer genre, but rarely flashes relaxing humor. But it's dosed, but really down to business - clearly the best of all seven Halloween sequels. "

Trivia

The film grossed $ 55 million on a budget of $ 17 million .
