Friday the 13th again is a 1982 American horror film directed by Steve Miner . The film is the third part of Friday-the-13th. Series and was executed as a 3D film .

action

The film begins with a look back at the previous, second part of Friday-the-13th. -Line. Ginny, who is on the run from the mass murderer Jason Voorhees, seeking protection in his remote forest hut, discovers the bodies of the camp guards and youths, as well as the severed head of Jason's mother. Ginny then puts on Pamela Voorhees' sweater that she wore when she was beheaded at the end of Part One, to give the impression that Ginny was Mrs. Voorhees. However, Jason notices this and injures Ginny, whereupon Paul appears and is involved in a duel with the mass murderer. Ginny manages to punch Jason in the shoulder with a machete and flee the forest hut with Paul. Jason survived this attack and also flees. However, after Ginny and Paul were apparently attacked again by Jason, it is not clearly explained whether Paul survived or was killed.

After the surrounding residents of Crystal Lake declare the mass murderer dead, the latter returns and kills a couple on a farm by hitting the man in the stomach with a hatchet and sticking a knitting needle in the back of the woman's head.

The teenagers Christina Higgins , Andy , Vera , Debbie and Shelly want to spend a weekend at Crystal Lake. On the way there, a man claims to have discovered a human eye and now believes that Jason has returned.

Chris tells her friend Rick about an experience in which she was attacked by a disfigured man. This turns out to be Jason Voorhees in the course of the film.

The hippies Chuck and Chili are there too . When Shelly and Vera drive into town, they are surprised by Fox , Loco and Ali . When they enter the yard and the barn in which Jason is hiding to take fuel from the group's van, as Shelly and Vera have hit Fox , Loco and Ali's motorbikes and are already having an argument in the supermarket at the gas station were involved with them, they are killed by Jason and only Ali survives, as can be seen at the end of the film. The vacation group does not get to see the corpses, however, because they had been removed by Jason. Chris thinks someone went into the house, but it's only Shelly who pretends to be dead. Thereupon the teenagers and also Rick as well as Chuck and Chili are killed one after the other. Vera is hit in the eye by a harpoon shot, Shelly's throat is cut, Chuck is thrown against a fuse box, Andy is cut in half and Debbie is slit open with a hunting knife above the chest area. Chili is impaled by Jason with a glowing poker and Rick also becomes a victim of the series of murders when Jason grabs his head.

Chris is the only survivor who can fight off Jason's attacks and wound him - apparently fatally - with an ax. When dawn falls, Chris is lying on a boat in the lake and believes he is a witness to Jason's resurrection, but is pulled into the lake by the decomposed corpse of Jason's mother. The police then assume delusions. The film ends with a view of Jason, who remains motionless in the camp's barn.

background

  • Only in this film does Jason get the characteristic ice hockey mask.
  • The theatrical version was shown in 3D . However, the first few minutes consist of flashbacks (from the previous part) in 2D .
  • This 3D version has been available on DVD in the USA since February 2009, albeit in anaglyph format. The US Blu-ray released in 2010 also contains the 3D version. All European publications only contain the 2D version.
  • The farmhouse and lake were recreated in the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio . Since there wasn't enough space for a whole lake, only a part was created and filmed from different angles.
  • The main plot of the film takes place two days after the second part, which makes it "Sunday the 15th" and not "Friday the 13th".
  • The first idea was to continue the story with the character Ginny Field from the second part. She is admitted to a psychiatric clinic, and murders continue there. The whole thing would have given the film a psychological background, but the makers of the film abandoned this idea because they believed they were too far removed from the original story.
  • The film cost about two million US dollars . He grossed about $ 36 million in the United States.
  • The German version was confiscated nationwide as a VHS in 1988.
  • The cover of the film music LP and maxi single was designed as a 3D image and could be viewed with red / green glasses .
  • The film was released in digital form in German for the first time on DVD; it was the European DVD version by Paramount, which included the German soundtrack. This DVD was never distributed in Germany because the film is indexed and confiscated in this country. In February 2009 a Blu-ray Disc was released under the title Friday the 13th - Part 3 as a “Special Edition” in Austria . Although the Blu-ray was never intended for Germany, Paramount released the Blu-ray with an "FSK 18" logo on the front cover, which was also the "FSK 18" logo for FSK exams after 2003, which means the title is actually no longer indexable. Paramount confirmed the incorrect FSK rating shortly after the release. There is no official publication in Germany, but both the European DVDs and the European Blu-ray contain the German soundtrack. After the label '84 Entertainment had secured the rights to the film, it finally successfully took action against the confiscation in June 2016. A requested re-examination by the BPjM also resulted in the removal of the film from the index. A re-examination by the FSK resulted in the unabridged version being approved for ages 16 and over.
  • The German television premiere took place on September 15, 2019 at 0.30 a.m. on TELE5 in 2D.

Reviews

With a rating of just 12% on Rotten Tomatoes , the film is still well below its predecessor. This picture is confirmed in the Internet Movie Database , as the user rating was lower than in the second part with 5.7 out of 10 possible points.

The lexicon of international films described the film as an "unsavory horror concoction, in which at best hardened friends of the genre will amuse themselves with self-deprecating sprinkles."
