Halloween V - The Revenge of Michael Myers is a horror film by the Swiss film director Dominique Othenin-Girard from 1989 and seamlessly ties in with Halloween IV - Michael Myers returns . It is the fifth part of the Halloween series .

action

Michael Myers did not perish in the fall into the shaft and the subsequent explosion (from Halloween IV ) and was able to crawl out of the hole in time. He crawls on until he comes across the river behind the forest. There it drifts downstream until it is finally washed ashore. He drags himself to a nearby hut where a homeless man has taken up residence and breaks the door open. With the last of his strength he tries to commit his next murder, but collapses before he can carry out his act of horror. The homeless man pulls the mask off his face and nurses him back to health.

A year later, Myers wakes up from a coma and is still intent on murder. He grabs his mask from the hook and kills the homeless man with a butcher's knife.

Jamie, Michael Myers' niece, survived his attacks but has not spoken a word since then. She has been treated at Haddonfield Children's Hospital since that night. Dr. Loomis is interested in her because she has a psychic connection to Michael that he would like to use to find Myers.

Meanwhile, Myers is on his way to Haddonfield to continue the hunt for his last living relative. He enters the house of Rachel and Jamie's parents and kills Rachel with scissors. Rachel's other friends also lose their lives as soon as they run into Michael. Again and again you see a man in dark clothes with a large suitcase on the way to Haddonfield, who is apparently interested in the bizarre events.

As expected, the showdown between Dr. Loomis and Myers. He can catch him with a ruse with Jamie as a decoy and a net and make it harmless with the last of his strength.

The police take Myers and lock him in a cell at the Haddonfield Police Department. In the meantime, the black-clad man is on his way to the police station. Once there, he shoots down all police officers on duty and frees Myers from his prison. After it is all over, Jamie goes into the department and through the ravaged dark hallways of the prison. She now realizes what has happened and weeps desperately for her life.

background

  • The Myers house is completely different from the first two parts.
  • Ellie Cornell felt her intended film death was too cruel and had it rewritten. Myers rams a pair of scissors into Rachel's shoulder instead of her mouth.
  • The film grossed just $ 11.6 million, making it the most unsuccessful in the series.
  • John Carpenter again strictly denied all rumors of his involvement in this film and did not want to have anything to do with him. However, due to the contract drafting for Halloween - The Night of Horror, he could not do anything about being named one of the scriptwriters , although he was not involved in the script. He was called because his script for the first part of the Halloween series provided the template for the characters in this film. It is listed in the Internet Movie Database as follows: "Script: John Carpenter (characters)". He is also named as the composer of the soundtrack because pieces by this were used for the first time in the first part of the series.
  • The film was indexed until August 2013. The right holder's request for the BPjM to delete the list prematurely was granted after a new review. A reassessment by the FSK revealed the age rating from 16 years onwards. On October 31, 2013, the uncut version was shown for the first time on German television as part of a Halloween special broadcast on the pay-TV channel Sky Action HD .
  • In 2014 Halloween V - The Revenge of Michael Myers was released for the first time in Germany in the uncut version after a re-examination by the FSK with a release from 16 years. As part of this, the film was released on Blu-Ray and shows this part of the Halloween series in full HD resolution for the first time .

criticism

“Another infusion of the success shock, which hardly reaches tension because it is limited to mere filming. Non-stop pans and tracking shots produce hectic rather than tension. "
