Michael Jacobs (born June 28, 1955 in Highland Park , New Jersey ) is an American screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Jacobs had his first success when his play Cheaters premiered in Florida in 1978 on Broadway at the Biltmore Theater in New York City . In 1980 a television film with Jack Kruschen and Patricia Barry was made from it . After initially continuing to write off-Broadway for the theater, he got into the television business in the mid-1980s and has since developed numerous television series , which can mainly be assigned to the group of sitcoms . His best-known creations include the puppet series Die Dinos as well as Life and Me and Life and Riley . He also appeared as executive producer on most of his series . For his only feature film production so far, Quiz Show , he was nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film together with Julian Krainin , Michael Nozik and Robert Redford . The film was also nominated for the BAFTA Film Award , but came away empty-handed. In 2015 Jacobs was nominated for Das Leben and Riley for a Primetime Emmy .
