Den Fynske Landsby ("The Funen Village") is an open-air museum in Odense , Denmark . It is located in the southern district of Fruens Bøge and shows 25 rural buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, all of which originally stood on the island of Funen and have been faithfully rebuilt.

The museum was founded in 1942 as a job creation measure and opened its doors on April 1, 1946 , eleven months after the end of the Second World War . The open-air theater had already opened two years earlier.

The museum is designed as a relatively compact village. Almost all buildings are accessible. They not only show historical home decor. Old crafts are also kept alive in museums. A ring stove - Brickyard is one of the museum, as well as more typical of Funen Vierseithof and the inn Sortebro Kro in which a restaurant modern Scandinavian cuisine. The actual farmhouses also include old-style farm gardens, as well as some domestic animals, mostly of older and rare breeds, so that the visitor gets the impression of a lively 19th century village.

In the summer season, concerts with famous singers and bands are often held in the open-air theater. In the summer of 2011, Status Quo , Texas and Bob Dylan were among the guests.
