Canibus (* 1974 , Jamaica ; real Germaine Williams ) is an American rapper and member of the group The HRSMN .

Life

Canibus was born in 1974 in Jamaica to cricketer Basil Williams and his wife Elaine. The family emigrated to the United States and moved there frequently. Canibus began to withdraw as a child and lived an introverted life. After graduating from high school, he worked for AT&T and the Department of Justice. After a year he began studying computer science at Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta .

He started rapping in the mid-1990s. He briefly teamed up with the rapper Webb to form the formation "THEM". After breaking up with Webb, he continued as a solo rapper. About mixtapes he got in touch with some more established rappers and was in 1997 as a guest rapper on LL Cool J's piece 4, 3, 2, 1 , and songs by Lost Boyz , Common and Wyclef Jean involved, his future manager. He had his own song on the soundtrack for Rhyme & Reason .

In 1998 he signed a recording deal with Universal Records and released his single Second Round KO , produced by Wyclef Jean, and the accompanying video with Mike Tyson . The single was a disstrack against LL Cool J. The rivalry between the two rappers had further disagreements until it ended some time later. Also in 1998 the debut album Can-I-Bus was released , which reached number 2 in the US charts and received a gold record for over 500,000 units sold . The album was rated as moderate by critics and was less commercially successful than expected. Canibus blamed Wyclef Jean for it.

On his second album, 2000 BC , which was released in 2000 , the group that later appeared as The HRSMN with Kurupt , Ras Kass and Killah Priest came for the first time . The four worked on many songs together and released the album The Horsemen Project in 2003 .

On the 2001 album C True Hollywood Stories , both the title and content were donated to the television documentary series E! Based on True Hollywood Story , the rivalry with Eminem came to light. This was also part of the feud with LL Cool J. Eminem was accused of having written one of the disssongs against Canibus as a ghostwriter. Canibus recorded a disstrack based on Eminem's song called Stan . Eminem's answer was to use the name Canibitch for Canibus.

Canibus joined the US Army in 2002. He graduated from Fort Knox Military Academy in 2003 and subsequently served as a Cavalry Scout .
