Silkk the Shocker (born June 18, 1975 in New Orleans ; actually Vyshonne Miller ) is an American rapper from New Orleans.

Career

Silkk the Shocker began rapping as a teenager and was a member of a number of groups such as the Down South Hustlers and Tru , his brother Master P's group . He released his solo debut, The Shocker , on No Limit Records in 1996 , then under the name Silkk. However, he took the album title in his artist name shortly after it was published, when the album became an underground success, primarily through word of mouth. During 1997 he was to be found on countless releases by No Limit Records before he released his second album Charge It 2 Da Game in February 1998 after it had been announced and promoted by the label for almost 8 months. Like its successor Made Man, which appeared in 1999, it achieved the RIAA's platinum award . However, this was the peak of his career and the albums My World, My Way and Based On A True Story , released in 2000 and 2004 respectively, sold increasingly poorly. He also played the lead role Kool in the movie Hot Boyz .
