C-Murder (actually: Corey Miller ; born March 9, 1971 ) is an American rapper from New Orleans .
Career
C-Murder began his career as a member of Tru . After the release of their second album in 1997, he was to be heard on some CDs of the No Limit Records label , which belonged to his brother Master P and with which he himself was under contract. With this he got the attention for his solo debut Life Or Death , which appeared in the spring of 1998. Bossalinie followed in the next year , before he had a highly regarded appearance in the Wobble Wobble of the 504 Boyz , which advanced to number 17 in the US charts. His third album was announced by the single Down For My Niggas , which also featured Snoop Dogg and Magic . Although it could not place itself on the Billboard charts, it was still a great success within the R & B / Hip-Hop genre, so that his long player Trapped In Crime finally made him a star . At the same time, this was the start of his own label, Tru Records , which was to be accompanied by his own clothing brand. However, he was arrested in 2002, shortly before his album Tru Dawgs was released, on charges of shooting someone in a nightclub . Although he protested his innocence, he was identified as the perpetrator and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003. However, since he was allowed to record songs in prison, he released The Truest Shit I Ever Said in 2005 . In March 2006, however, the sentence was overturned and he was released on bail for $ 500,000. Initially he was placed under house arrest as he was now charged with conditional murder . However, the judge later allowed him to roam freely within the parishes of Orleans and Jefferson during the day . He used this to record two more albums and write a book, Death Around The Corner . In August 2009, the verdict from the first trial was confirmed and C-Murder was again sentenced to life imprisonment.
