Jennifer "Jenny" McCarthy (born November 1, 1972 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress , model and presenter .

Life

In 1992, Jenny McCarthy studied nursing at Southern Illinois University . In order to earn money for college, she sent a photo to the men's magazine Playboy . A photo series appeared in October 1993 and McCarthy was voted Playmate of the Year in 1994. Success as a model resulted in her dropping out of college and moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in show business. In 1995, McCarthy was hired by MTV to host the Singled Out series .

McCarthy had two television series of his own, The Jenny McCarthy Show and Jenny , a sitcom . She also played in several films, mostly in smaller supporting roles, for example in the Hollywood film Scary Movie 3 and in the animal horror shocker Python - Death comes silently .

She is also the author of 1997's Jen-X , an autobiography, and 2004's Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth . McCarthy is known for her comedic style, which focuses on her appearance and leave their humor.

McCarthy wrote and starred in the film Dirty Love , which premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival . In 2005 she hosted a show on the E! Entertainment Television called Party at the Palms . The reality show was filmed at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas .

In 2010 she described herself as the Taylor Swift of the publishing industry. She justified this by stating that just as Swift processes her love life in her books, Swift would do the same in her songs. Most recently, McCarthy published the book Love, Lust and Faking it .

McCarthy had a relationship with her then manager Ray Manzella . In 1999, McCarthy married John Mallory Asher . The couple claims to have an autistic son who was born in 2002. In August 2005, McCarthy and Asher divorced. From December 2005 to March 2010, McCarthy was in a relationship with actor Jim Carrey . At the beginning of April 2010, the couple announced that they had separated in friendship. At the end of August 2014 she married the new kids on the block singer Donnie Wahlberg after a year of relationship .

McCarthy is active as an opponent of vaccinations and represents the scientifically refuted claim that there is a connection between childhood vaccinations and autism (see also: Chelation Therapy ). In 2007 she published Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey In Healing Autism , a book about living with her disabled son. Together with Carrey she supports the controversial organization Generation Rescue , which promises the curability of autistic disorders .

Jenny McCarthy is the cousin of actress Melissa McCarthy .
