Whitburn is a town in West Lothian , Scotland with a population of 10,527. It is roughly halfway between the two largest cities in Scotland: Glasgow is about 37 kilometers to the west, Edinburgh about 35 kilometers east of Whitburn. The M8 motorway connecting these cities runs past the city to the north.

Buildings

In Whitburn is the Brucefield Church of the Free Church of Scotland , a modern church building from 1965, which was included in the Scottish list of monuments in 2008 and there in the highest category A. This makes it one of the most important modern church buildings in Scotland.

The Whitburn Parish Kirk of the Church of Scotland , mainly from the 18th century, was included in the monument category B of the Scottish monument list 1980th
