The Ust-Janski ulus ( Russian Усть-Янский улус even Усть-Янский район , Ust-Janski rayon; Yakut улууһа Усуйаана , Usujaana uluuha ) is one of 34 Ulusse ( Rajons ) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the north of the Russian Federal District Further East . It is located in the north of the republic on the coast of the Laptev Sea , a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean .

The southern edge of the delta is roughly at the geographical latitude of the North Cape , the entire Ulus north of the Arctic Circle. The south-eastern part of the Ulus is mountainous and is drained eastward to the Indigirka by the Selennjach and Ujandina rivers. The Deputatski Ulus Center is located here in a side valley of the Ujandina Valley .
Most of the vegetation consists of tundra , and some areas are even cold deserts .
