The Momski ulus ( Russian Момский улу́с , also Момский район , Momski rajon; Yakut Муома улууһа , Muoma uluuha ) is one of the 34 Ulusse ( Rajons ) of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in the north of the Eastern Russian Federation . It is located in the east of the republic on the Arctic Circle, south of the Ulusse Ust-Janski , Abyjski and Verkhnekolymski and north of Oimjakonski ulus .

The Ulus has an area of around 101,700 km², almost as much as Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg together. It is located in the East Siberian mountainous region and is traversed from south to north by the Indigirka (Yakutian Indigir ), the second ulus traversed below its source. The second largest river of the Ulus is the 407 km long Moma ( Yakutisch Muoma ), which flows into the Indigirka from the east at the administrative center of the same name of the Ulus.

The Momski is very mountainous. The northern border runs through the Moma Mountains, which are up to 1847 m high . In the south, the Tscherski Mountains are broken through by the Indigirka flowing down from Oimjakonski ulus. On the western border rises the 2682 m high summit Tschen, between the Indigirka and the Moma the mountain Pobeda , with 3147 m the highest point in the northeast of the Asian mainland.

The vegetation consists of taiga in protected areas in the south , and tundra in high altitudes and in the north up to the valleys .

The population consists of more than 90% members of indigenous ethnic groups , with a slightly increasing tendency . The proportion of the Ewenen is the second highest among all Ulussen of the republic.
