Administrative division of the Sakha Republic
The autonomous Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Siberia ( Russia ) is divided into 34 Ulusse and 2 city districts .
The last changes occurred in the context of the reform of local self-government carried out throughout Russia from 2003 onwards. In the Sakha Republic, this particularly affected the (ulus-free) cities previously directly subordinate to the republic administration except the capital Yakutsk :
- Mirny and Nyurba were subordinated to the Ulussen of the same name, whose administrative headquarters they were already before
- Pokrovsk was assigned to the Changalassky and its administrative seat (previously Mochsogolloch )
- a town circle with the size of a Ulusses and administration located in Nerjungri was converted into a normal Ulus
In contrast, the urban-type Shatai settlement previously subordinated to the capital Yakutsk was spun off into an independent urban district.
