Tscherski ( Russian Черский ) is an urban-type settlement in Russia , in northern Yakutia near the mouth of the Kolyma into the polar sea. It has 2857 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). Like the mountains of the same name nearby, the place is named after the Polish-born Siberian explorer Iwan Tscherski (Jan Czerski).
