Olenjok ( Russian Оленёк , Yakut Өлөөн / Ölöön) is a village (Selo) in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Siberia ( Russia ). It is the administrative center of the Evenki National Rajon Olenjok and has 2273 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). Olenjok is located on the left bank of the river of the same name , which flows into the Laptev Sea, almost 1,100 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of the republic capital Yakutsk . In Olenjok there is a museum on the history and ethnography of the peoples of the Russian north . Temperatures in Olenjok can reach −60 ° C in winter. The place is on the planned Anabar highway .
On December 16, 1957, the Yakut singer Natascha Dokalowa (1957-2010) was born in Olenjok .
