traffic
Ust-Maja is the end point of an almost 250 km long winter slope from the north-west neighboring Uluszentrum Amga , which in turn can be reached via the R502 road from Nizhny Bestjach near Jakutsk via Maija . Another winter slope runs from Ust-Maja to the left bank of the Aldan opposite the settlement of Eldikan , a good 50 km northeast (downstream) , from where a paved road leads through the gold mining areas in the east of the Ulus to Jugorjonok on the Judoma. There are vague plans to expand the winter roads for year-round operation, first to Ust-Maja and then further along the old Amgino-Ajanski trakt (Amga-Ajan-Trakt) trade route to Ajan , the shortest possible connection between Central Yakutia and the Sea of Okhotsk to accomplish.
The small Ust-Maja airport ( ICAO code UEMU ) is located about 8 km southwest of the settlement directly on the Aldan near the village of Petropavlovsk .
