Batagay-Alyta ( Russian Батагай-Алыта ; Yakut Баатаҕай Алыыта ; unofficially after the nearby river also Sakkyryr, Саккырыр ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Russia with 1,832 inhabitants (14 October 2010).
geography
The place is about 650 km as the crow flies north of the republic capital Yakutsk on the eastern flank of the Verkhoyansk Mountains . It is located a few kilometers from the left bank of the Ulachan-Sakkyryr , a left tributary of the left Jana tributary Bytantai .
Batagai-Alyta is the administrative center of Ulus Eweno-Bytantaiski and the seat and only locality of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Tjugessirski nasleg.
history
The village was founded in 1936 as the administrative seat for the Sakkyryrski rajon created in 1931 . With the dissolution of the Rajons in 1963, it lost its administrative function until today's Ulus with its above-average proportion of evens of over 30% of the population was created by detaching it from the Verkhoyansky ulus .

Batagai-Alyta is not connected to the fixed road network. Winter slopes lead east to Verkhoyansk an der Jana, 150 km away, and continue as a road to Batagai , as well as through the Bytantai valley, which runs 30 km east of Batagai-Alyta, down to Jana. In a south-westerly direction, a difficult road runs over the Verkhoyansk Mountains into the Sobolooch-Mayan valley and this down to the Lena below Schigansk .
On the southern outskirts of Batagai-Alyta there is the small airport Sakkyryr ( ICAO code UEBS ).
