The Allaikhovsky District ( Russian Аллаиховский улус even Аллаиховский район , Allaichowski rayon; Yakut улууһа Аллайыаха , Allajyacha uluuha ) is one of 34 Ulusse ( Rajons ) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the north of the Russian Federal District Far East .
geography
The Ulus is located in the north of the republic on the coast of the East Siberian Sea , a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean , in the East Siberian lowlands . It is named after the 563 km long Allaicha river .
The ulus has an area of about 107,300 km², a little less than a third of the area of Germany. Most of the vegetation consists of tundra , and some areas are even cold deserts .
With the support of WWF , the Katalyk bird sanctuary was set up on some islands in the Indigirka delta , not least to improve the living conditions of the cranes in East Asia.
Demographics
The number of inhabitants had more than tripled from 1939 to 1989, but has now fallen back to around twice the initial value:

Almost two thirds of the population are members of indigenous ethnic groups , with a slight upward trend. The proportion of the Evens and Yukagirs is the third highest of all Ulusse in the republic.

The Ulus consists of 6 community formations, designated in Yakutia with the word nasleg , of which 1 point community and 4 area communities and a non-permanently inhabited nasleg.
The following list is preceded by the Yakut names, followed by the Russian names in brackets, both in transliteration and in Cyrillic script. Where only one population is given, it is from 2007:
