The Selennjach ( Russian Селеннях , Yakut Силээннээх , Sileenneech ) is a 796 km long left tributary of the Indigirka in Siberia , in the Asian part of Russia .

course

The river arises at a height of about 420  m in the northeast of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) through the confluence of Chargy-Sala (from right) and Njamnja (also Njamnjach , from left). 49 km long Chargy-Sala and 22km Njamnja arise to approximately 800  m height in the north of the northern reaches of chersky range extending Mittelgebirgsland , in the region of Kuigarückens (krjasch Kuiginski) and Irgitschen-comb (Irgitschinski Chrebet).

The Selennjach initially flows in a south-easterly direction through the Moma-Selennjach depression , which in this area is bordered on its western side by the foothills of the Tscherski Mountains (Burkat and Chadarannja ridge), in the east through the Selennjach Mountains with the Tommot massif. Both mountain ranges are over 2000  m high there. In the entire upper course the Selennjach flows through the territory of the Ulus Ust-Jansk ; there is also the only village on the river, the village (selo) Sajylyk (also Yakut after the river and the municipality (Nasleg) Sileennech , administered by Sajylyk , still in the form of Siljannjach ).

In the middle reaches the Selennjach turns in a wide arc in a northeasterly direction and then flows through the Ulus Abyj in a predominantly easterly direction . North of the Andrei-Tas ridge (Krjasch Andrei-Tas) past the river reaches the Abyjtiefland (Abyjskaja nismennost) . In this area rich in lakes, the Selennjach finally flows into the Indigirka at 29  m altitude, 20 km downstream from the village of Kuberganja on the left bank of the Indigirka and about 90 km as the crow flies southwest of the Ulus administrative center of Belaja Gora .

The most important tributaries of the Selennjach are Tschubukulach (length 89 km), Agdanschja (37 km, with the longest source river Nagondschja 79 km) and Tommot (98 km) from the left as well as Tschamet (99 km), Ojosordoch (84 km), Bjorjoljoch (154 km ) and Buor-Jurjach (116 km) from the right.

Hydrology

The Selennjach, whose catchment area covers around 30,800 km², usually freezes over from the beginning of October to the end of May. Its discharge at the mouth is 180 m³ / s on average.
