SWV , also known as Sisters with Voices , is an American R&B trio.

history

SWV formed in 1990 and released their debut album It's About Time in 1992 . However, the first single Right Here , taken from the album, attracted little attention. The singles I'm So Into You and Weak , on the other hand, were very successful, as well as the re-release of the debut single under the name Right Here (Human Nature Remix) . In the USA the album and the singles together sold five million records. The album went platinum three times. The second record was a remix compilation called The Remixes . The singles Anything , Tonight's the Night (with BLACKstreet ) and You're Always On My Mind were extracted from it.

After four years, the studio album New Beginning was released in 1996 . It was just as successful as its predecessor. You're The One , taken from the album, reached number one on the American Billboard R & B / Hip-Hop charts as the group's seventh single. The album was also a success in New Zealand , Canada and the United Kingdom . It received a platinum record for a million records sold.

The third studio album Release Some Tension was released in 1997. It could not place in the US top ten, but in New Zealand the single Can We was a number one hit.

In 1999 the group split up to pursue solo careers. Numerous compilations such as SWV - Greatest Hits (1999), The Best of SWV (2000) and SWV's Platinum & Gold Collection (2003) turned out to be failures. Except for Cheryl "Coko" Clemons, who was already involved in the song Men in Black in 1997 independently of SWV , none of the members of SWV achieved a solo career worth mentioning. Clemons released two successful albums and worked as a solo artist with Darkchild , Eve , Lil 'Mo and Faith Evans, among others .

After a long break between 1999 and 2005, the group reunited and began to work on an album planned for 2009 and with artists such as Bobby Brown & New Edition , BLACKstreet and Babyface . One of the biggest appearances after the split was in 2008 at the BET Awards with Alicia Keys , TLC and En Vogue , where they sang a medley of the hits Waterfalls , Teenage Love Affair , Weak and Hold On . The reunion album was finally released in early 2012 under the name I Missed Us .
