Karl Kergl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Kergl (born November 17, 1897 in Munich ; † March 21, 1956 there ) was a German architect at the Post Building School .

Karl Kergl studied at the Munich State Building School from 1915 until he was drafted into military service. After the war he was employed by the Munich Oberpostdirektion , where he was responsible for some post offices in the Bavarian Oberland . From 1932 to 1939 he worked as a freelance architect for the Army Construction Office. From 1939 to 1945 he was again in the military. Kergl's curriculum vitae is therefore exemplary for many architects who are inclined to architectural modernism and who were able to realize at least some of the modern buildings in the military during National Socialism.

In the post-war period he worked as a freelance architect in the reconstruction of the destroyed Munich. Later he built numerous houses and schools.
