history

The Munich State Building School emerged in 1909 from the Munich Building Trade School founded in 1823 . As departments for architecture and civil engineering, these were attached to the Munich University of Applied Sciences, which was founded in 1971 . The Munich University of Applied Sciences, on the other hand, has been renamed several times over the past few years: since the 2007/08 winter semester, it has become the “University of Applied Sciences - Munich University of Applied Sciences”, or “Munich University of Applied Sciences” or “HM” for short. From February 23, 2010, it became the “University of Applied Sciences - Munich University of Applied Sciences” and from October 28, 2011 it was renamed “ Munich University of Applied Sciences ”.

building

The building complex on Karlstrasse / Barer Strasse in Munich's Maxvorstadt , which was built for the State Building School and is still named after it, is listed as a monument under file number D-1-62-000-7830 in the Bavarian list of monuments.

The architects of the building, which was built between 1954 and 1957 and expanded from 1968 to 1970, were Franz Ruf ( Sep Ruf's brother ), Adolf Peter Seifert and Rolf ter Haerst. The House of Bavarian History honors the architecture as exemplary for the reconstruction phase after the Second World War :

“Finely structured wall surfaces next to plastered window surfaces and various materials enliven the grid structure. The front cladding of the administration building with natural stone panels with its white windows gives it a noble surface effect without disturbing the physicality of the large cube. "

Seat of three faculties of the Munich University of Applied Sciences

The faculties of architecture , civil engineering and geoinformation of the university are located in the building today and look after 1,500 students. In June 2012, it became known that the Free State of Bavaria was planning to relocate the teaching facilities and sell the property, which could mean the building's demolition.
