Aurelio Arturo
Aurelio Arturo Martínez (born February 22, 1906 in La Unión , Colombia, † November 24, 1974 in Bogotá ) was a Colombian writer and poet .
Arturo, who grew up in the seclusion of the province, studied law at the Universidad Externado de Colombia . As a lawyer, he took on high political offices in Colombia; he also worked as a journalist . His most famous work is his epic poem Morada al Sur , which shows the influence of Saint-John Perse . His poetry is characterized by a contemplative closeness to nature, a nostalgic tone and high musicality. The elements of the vegetation have a life of their own and are closely related to one another. In 1963 Arturo won the Premio Nacional de Poesía Guillermo Valencia ; in the year of his death he received an honorary doctoratefrom the University of Nariño .
