The lyrics of Let's Go Crazy are about the consequence of an admonition of Christian ethics, the de-elevator in the text is the metaphor for Satan . The hit begins with an organ playing with Prince giving a speech about life. At the end of the speech you can hear a drum machine sound, followed by the use of guitars, bass guitars and a synthesizer. The drum machine they used here was a Linn LM-1 , which was also used in When Doves Cry .

In 2007, a 29-year-old mother posted a 29-second video clip in which her toddler danced to Let's Go Crazy on YouTube . Four months after the upload , Universal Music Group , then the commercial rights distributor of the song, tried to criminalize the woman by invoking the controversial Digital Millennium Copyright Act . The lawsuit was decided in 2008 in favor of the mother.

It consists of sequences from this film, at the beginning of the clip Prince is walking down a flight of stairs; he goes on a stage and sings the song. After riding the motorcycle, Prince and the woman kiss. Later they go to a forest and spend time together. Once in the house, Prince runs down a room. Then Prince and the woman ride the motorcycle again and meet again in the forest. In a later scene, the woman and Prince kiss; Disappointed, Prince sees the woman again in a restaurant with another man. Then the woman leaves the bar; in between you see the woman in a dance school, and full of anger Prince destroys a closet in the pub. Prince then follows the woman on his motorcycle. Emergency vehicles then stand in front of an accident site. Then Prince drives off again on his motorcycle, and a police vehicle drives by; there too, Prince and the woman find each other in the forest. Finally, Prince and the woman reconcile, hug each other and kiss. In the rest of the video, Prince finishes the song.
