This discography is an overview of the released records of the US musician Prince , including albums, singles and chart positions. In addition, the filmography is connected. More than 100 million Prince records were sold worldwide during his lifetime. Since 2016, all recordings and chart placements have been posthumous .

A total of 58 albums were released by Prince, consisting of 39 studio albums , two new editions of studio albums, two posthumous studio albums, seven best-of albums , five live albums and three remix albums . In the 39 studio albums, Crystal Ball and The Truth (both 1998) and Lotusflow3r and MPLSound (both 2009) are counted as separate albums, although they were released together in the respective year of release.

So far 39.5 million albums have been sold in the USA, 5.72 million in Great Britain, 2.4 million in Germany, 300,000 in Switzerland and 150,000 in Austria. The world's best-selling Prince album is Purple Rain , of which over 25 million copies (as of 2017) were sold. The 1999 albums and Diamonds and Pearls followed, each with around seven million copies sold worldwide.

Prince has released 109 singles worldwide , including three singles - Melody Cool (1990), Round and Round (1990) and Shake! (1991) - which appeared on Prince's album Graffiti Bridge (1990), but are not sung by himself. The two songs Hot Thing (1987) and Call My Name (2004) were not released as singles, but were able to place themselves in the charts via airplay . Sometimes It Snows in April hit the charts posthumously as a download. To date, 10.5 million singles have been sold in the US and 2.2 million in the UK. No gold or platinum awards could be achieved in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Albums

The highest ranking is given for each album, although this was only the case posthumously with some albums . When an album has reached number one, the number of weeks in brackets to the right of the number “1” shows how long the album stayed at number one. Below the highest ranking, the number of weeks is indicated in brackets, how long the respective album was able to stay in the hit parade. "-" means that the album could not be placed in the charts and "na" means that the album was not released in the respective country. The date from the USA is always given as the "first publication".
