The American musician and composer Prince has received numerous awards over the course of his music career, including seven Grammy Awards . In 1985 he received an Oscar in the category Best Original Song Score for the musical film Purple Rain . When Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, OutKast and Alicia Keys gave the laudatory speech . Keys said of Prince, "There is only one man who is loud enough to make you soft, strong enough to make you weak, and so honest that you feel ashamed." Prince also gave a speech and said among other things: “Without true spiritual guidance, too much freedom can lead to the corruption of the soul. So a word to the young artists: a real friend and mentor is not on your payroll. I wish you all the best on this fascinating journey. It is not too late. "In addition, the albums were 1999 , Purple Rain and ☮" the Times Sign " added Fame into the Grammy Hall of. In 2007 he received a Golden Globe Award in the Best Movie Song category for the song The Song of the Heart , which he contributed to the soundtrack of the animated film Happy Feet .

The US music magazine Rolling Stone recognized Prince's artistic work several times. In 2010, the music magazine compiled its "List of the 100 Best Artists of All Time", in which Prince placed it 27th. When it voted the 500 best songs of all time in 2011 , Prince was represented with six songs. In 2012 it voted the 500 best albums of all time , which included four of his albums. In 2015 Prince was ranked 18th in the “100 best songwriters of all time”.

Posthumously , on September 26, 2018, the University of Minnesota awarded him an honorary doctorate for his influence on the international music scene and his hometown of Minneapolis.
